Ready for Summer
I love my child madly - this is Lisa, and my child is Seamus - but it seems that this time of year, this busy, busy Spring season brings on exhaustion that is just a part of life. I wake up tired, I function through my day tired, I go to sleep utterly exhausted and wake to do it all again. It is as if all the tiredness from the beginning of the school year to now has accumulated into one huge, overwhelming need to just "get a little extra sleep". Now, here, if I was a proper blogger, would be the moment where I introduce the amazing product from some small, mom-run business that was really helping me out, but I don't know of one. Here is my tip though; drink lots of water, sleep at least 7 hours a night, exercise and eat lots of good fresh veggies (I wish I were doing all of that). Everything seems to be adding up right now. The late nights working on school fundraising stuff, making lunches, sending out “class parent” emails…. It is too many hours spent shuttling kids around, going to the birthday of every child in the class instead of having a relaxing weekend, doing laundry, doing school work and Rockin' Baby Sling work.... But as I said before, I love my child madly and will do it each and every year until I send him off to college, but right now, I am so ready for Summer. I want to sleep 8 hours every night, I want to not make school lunches every night but make lunch at lunch time, I want to not rush out the door to school while yelling at my son to get his shoes on for the third time... I want to be slow and lazy and be nicer to my sweet boy, and have big yummy breakfasts, instead of the standard egg, I want to putter in the garden and pick some tomatoes before starting my day, I want to start dinner early enough to not feel stressed about it (“if I don’t get dinner on the table in 30 minutes he won’t get the sleep he needs”).... So, yes. I am glad. Filled with joy in fact. I'm singing Summertime. I know some of my mom friends are filled with dread at the idea of trying to fill their child's days with anything even slightly engaging that can occupy time and energy. But, I can't wait. I am ready to lounge, to move slowly, or not at all if I choose. We will see a whirlwind of activity these last couple of weeks, then, IT IS DONE. YAY! Until next year. I love Summer. But, there is always the possibility I might have something to say about how much I love school by the end of it....

Yep, we're finally blogging....

We know. It's a bit late, but we're finally doing it. We are now part of the modern world - we officially have a blog. We may have already missed the blog ship and might possibly be flailing about with a faulty life ring, but you know, better this fine Friday than never at all.... We have all sorts of excuses, but the main ones are these:
We are working moms that also volunteer at our kids schools!
Okay, we know that is kind of the norm nowadays. We don't want any sympathy, just a modicum of understanding. We are still here and slinging away though. Rockin' Baby slings and pouches for stores, for online orders, and for our lovely blogging (mostly mom) friends. Like many other small businesses we suspect that the middle class has disappeared into the economic abyss these past couple of years, and are trying to remain above water. And, yes, the life ring really is faulty.... But on an up note, we still love and believe in baby wearing and what we are doing here. We've lowered our prices drastically this year to make it easier for parents to be stylish baby wearers, and offer fantastic deals whenever we can. So, check in periodically and we'll keep you up to date on the fun, the tribulations, the deals, the slinging, and the parenting.... There will be updates from the two of us (Lisa and Natasha), possibly updates from the men in our lives, the kids, and the single posts from either Lisa or Natasha. Look forward to sharing with you all! XO
